"Beautiful! Any doctor or med student will love it." according to Vincent Grosso. I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend in her 1st year of medical school. She LOVES it. While this is not an academic reference book for a current student, she confirmed that the pictures are very accurate and useful. The hand drawn pictures are gorgeous.Note: The book is roughly 8x6x2in. It could be a good coffee table book, but may be on the small side.. K.K. I purchased the Atlas of Human Anatomy and Surgery for my ER nurse husband as a birthday present and we can't stop looking at it. The information is so interesting, the diagrams are so precise and colorful; it's really surprising it isn't far more expensive.If you have a friend in the medical field I think this is a great gift optio. The art and visuals in Bourgery: Atlas of Human Anatomy and Surgery are superb. The art and visuals in this book are superb. Also interesting to see the surgery techniques. The book is not a large volume and may not be well suited for the coffee table. Regardless, we keep it on a bookcase near the living room and our guests seem drawn to it. We've caught a few thumbing through it looking enthralled.
About the Author Jean-Marie Le Minor has been assistant professor of anatomy at the Louis Pasteur University in Strasbourg since 1990, radiologist at the University Hospitals in Strasbourg, member of the governing board of the Société Française d’Histoire de la Médecine, Laureate of the Académie Nationale de Médecine (Paris, 2003), and officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (French Ministry of Culture).
