Just like that.One striking difference we notice is the three dimensional presentation of the drawings using probably charcoal or a very soft pencil, how else will we understand that form if its not rendered in three dimensions?! Yet so many books exist, even the ones from great such as Loomis, where you would see a more finished figure, where the contours take over, mak. "A note of Caution" according to Human_Patch_Office. Rather than add to the dozens of wonderful and true things that have already been said about this book, I would just like to add one bit of caution. Though I believe this is probably the best book you will find on drawing difficult foreshortened positions (as this was/is my biggest challenge and this book has been a tremendous help) the artist in this book somehow misses something very basic in drawing the body.There is a way the body naturally tilts when more weight is put on one leg than the other. Unless I am deeply mistaken, the artist in this book fails to account for the tilt that occurs between the hips an. this book is fantastic. i also have the loomis and bridgeman figure this book is fantastic. i also have the loomis and bridgeman figure drawing books, and they a wonderful too. hogarth is almost like the perfect middle between the 2. where loomis is extremely detailed, bridgeman is not at all, and hogarth's approach is somewhere in between. highly recommended.
