This book is fine about understanding what a fiddle is and how to select one and probably how to properly hold the fiddle and bow but it also has some serious flaws. Well, some might be chalked up to needing better proof reading like when it talked about re-tuning the fiddle D,D,A,D. It said that the first D was the old G, correct, followed by the A and the D that used to be the old D instead of the old E. Rather minor but it could be confusing to those who are confused alreadyThen there was the section on placing fingering stickers on the finge. "Worth Every Cent and More, Regardless of Experience Level" according to Lichen. I am an older adult who dabbled in violin for a few years as a kid, but want to take up learning to fiddle. I have lifelong knowledge of music - by age nine I had been taught so much music theory I could transpose keys on paper. I actually read every word of the pages on reading music and theory, just out of curiosity. This is a valuable resource for the beginner musician an. from beginner to player, this is a good through book with videos and audio clips I finally started playing 2.5 years ago. since then it has been a marvelous ride! i wish this book was there when i first started because there's tons of things to weed through as a beginner, this book has it all even if you are a few years into playing there is much to gain from the fiuddle for dummies book.
