If you are just strumming the chords (and you know your chords,) it doesn't really matter which book you get, but if you need reminders about where to put your fingers on the frets while you're playing the chords buy this one. It includes a chord diagram above every chord in every song which makes it much easier to learn the songs.Several reviews write that this book is too advanced. "Well Produced Book of IZ's Music." according to Jon. What a beautifully produced book. For all the pieces that I have learned to play, the chord charts are accurate. Although I will never NEVER match the amazing Ukulele skills and magnificent voice of IZ, I am having a great deal of fun learning many of the songs and entertaining my friends and family.IZ. You are greatly missed.. I love the songs in this inspiring book I love the songs in this inspiring book! Israel was such a great singer with his fun lyrics and great Ukulele playing. His voice is so beautiful I just can't get enough! I will be learning to play the songs in this book! I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys IZ's music! :D
When writing the book From the Corner of His Eye, author Dean Koontz found inspiration in Iz's music, stating, "I hope that the reader finds pleasure in my story equal to the joy and consolation that I found in the voice, the spirit, and the heart of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole." Tragically, Iz passed away at the age of 38 in 1997. Israel's music conveys joy and hope and is loved the world over. He was the third person in Hawaiian history to be bestowed this honor. This songbook contains 13 songs transcribed for ukulele exactly as Iz performed them. The current worldwide appreciation of ukulele music can easily be traced to one man, Israel "Iz" Kamakawiwo'ole. Ten thousand people attended his funeral and thousands gathered to witness as his ashes were scattered at Makua Beach. The state flag of Hawaii was flown at half mast as he lay in state at the Hawaiian capitol building.
