About the Author Dan Gelo was born and raised in northern New Jersey. D. Welch said Filled with Errors. This book contains some fun tune selections, but there are so many errors it makes the entire volume suspect. There are several examples where the tab and the notation differ and there are other examples where the notes are simply wrong (see College Hornpipe an example). It is sad that Mel Bay didn't take the time to quickly edit the book before publishing it.. "Great, but Hard to Read" according to M. D. Wainwright. Great selection of songs. While it specifically calls out the Irish in the book, this is really a must for people interested in the whole of Anglo-Celtic-American folk music traditions. It provides interesting little anecdotes on the characteristics of a Texas reel versus an Irish jig etc. This CD is also key to helping you get a feel for the music something you really can't.
