Ive been a Stephen King fan for many years, and this is one I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. The storyline was unique and drew me in right away--a must for books, as readers and writers (and agents and editors) are aware. The characters were interesting--good guys and bad guys--and the detail with which he writes makes them come to life as one reads. The hero and villain were equally engaging in their own way. Th

A new store has opened in the town of Castle Rock, Maine. Presented unabridged and read by the author.. It has whatever your heart desires if you're willing to pay the price. In this chilling novel by one of the most potent imaginations of our time, evil is on a shopping spree and out to scare you witless

A new store, Needful Things, opens in town, and its proprietor, Leland Gaunt, offers seemingly unbeatable (read: Faustian) bargains to Castle Rock's troubled citizens. From Publishers Weekly With the "Last Castle Rock Story" King bids a magnificent farewell to the fictional Maine town where much of his previous work has been set. Among them are Polly Chalmers, lonely seamstress whose arthritis is only one of the physical and psychic pains she must bear; Brian Rusk, the 11-year-old boy whose mother is not precisely attentive; and Alan Pangborn, the new sheriff whose wife and son have recently died. Of grand proportion, the novel ranks with King's best, in both plot and characterization. King, like Leland Gaunt, knows just what his customers want. I just received the book and right from the beginning it is full of surprises. Makes it really hard to put down because the story is so very good and fast moving. This is a great book and I do recommend it for anyone looking for a Stephen King book. I would like to see this made into a movie.. Needful things. I was afraid when I started reading that this book wouldn't hold up so well over the passing years. It has. It's still one of the finest things that Stephen King has written. His characters and finely woven storylines of each individual is still strong and very poignant in some cases. And there are a lot of individual characters, yet none of them got lost in the shuffle. The slow build to the coming terror and the final 200 pages were as intense as it always was. One heck of a tale that I'd recommend.
