Johnson This book is great - we are using it for a book club for special needs adults, as it is such an inspirational story.Personally, Snowman's story inspired me to become a marathon runner (when I had never run before in my life) at the ripe old age of 58 - this was four years ago - which is why I recommended it to the book club as a book they would want to use. I loved the story of a horse who was given a second chance at life and didn't waste any of it. Snowman is the story of a horse in the fifties, who'd been used as a plow horse for an Amish farm. As the author tells us, a plow horse has an average lifespan of about 8 years; Snowman was seven when a local Dutch horse trainer, Harry, buys the horse for eighty dollars.
