While he is best known as the father of peak oil, Hubbert spent his career grappling with many of the most import challenges facing modern society (income equality, resource allocation, sustainable societies, nuclear energy and more). Hubbert achieved more than fortune telling a sympathetic biography of an awkward customer. unfortunately by an author who could not appreciate the power of Hubber'ts application of fundamental physics to the subsurface problems he attacked. the bitter unresolved controversy with morris muskat, which reverberates to this day, deserves more than the sketchy reference in t. "Excellent biography" according to David Rutledge. An excellent book, with lots of details about Hubbert's life that were new to me. There is a good history of Hubbert's role in the founding of the Technocracy movement, and lots of details about the politicized reserves estimates produced by the US Geological Survey.
