There's something for everyone in this book, I recommend it for women, men, teens, history buffs, art lovers, foodies, scientists, nerds, time tra. For lovers of historical fiction I love reading historical fiction, and this book had many elements that I enjoy -- providing a feel for a different time and place, with romance, strong and interesting female characters with agency, a mystery to be solved, and a touch of magic. One of the unique aspects of this historical destination was how genuinely immersed the characters were in the religious life of medieval Siena. I appreciated the author taking it in stride and simply working the plot into and around it. I enjoyed Winawer's storytelling and didn't want to put this . HMS said MUST READ!. I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down! It is a beautifully crafted story that weaves together fascinating historical facts, love, art, intrigue, and time travel. I felt transported to Medieval Italy and at the same time inside of the main character's mind, thanks to the author's wonderful descriptive imagery and seamless character development.
