Chewy, bubbly fun, and not as sweet as you think it would be. SarahNP Delving into the pop culture roots of my eclectic childhood I thought this book might offer up some clues. What a blast of nostalgic fun! (And, yet, disturbing in that the songs were marketed to such a young audience, hmmm. It's all explained inside.) Highly recommend it for anyone, especially researchers, who is interested in the Bubble Gum pop music machine. Plenty of names, dates, references, insights and interviews to support or inspire related research. Probably won't find this much info on bubble gum music in one easy access form.. "Great Music Book !" according to Amazon Customer. Wonderful pop music book.Invaluable for the Detergents, Cufflinks, Archies, and Ron Dante fan. Features the top years 1967-1972. Lots of chart information, but also the inside story of the deals made behind the scenes, and you get a feel of the music business then, and now. An enjoyable, and yes essential read for the music fan. Short easy to read chapters. You can read it a piece at a time, or in one gulp.. A Sad Look at a Fascinating Subject There were far too many entries, each of which were only a page or so long; not nearly long enough to give any depth nor real information about the bands involved. The editors also stretched the definition of Bubble Gum way too far, including bands which were far, far from Bubble Gum. Not worth the time.
