So many responsibilities, including teaching your countrymen how to think!As advertised: This is written as an autobiography, and I think it is about as accurate as it could be, albeit about half the length the Dear Leader would have published. The author stays true to his mission to write as KJI would.I was most impressed with the author's knowledge of 1) history, 2) the inner workings within North Korea, and 3) the dilemmas a dictator faces when he pushes a flawed ideolo. Clever book about the horrors of North Korea. Great book. Writing it as an "autobiography" was a clever technique. It's a a funny read, but (semi-spoiler) the author kicks you the gut in the the last few pages for finding it funny. I would have given it 5 stars if there was a list of the author's source material and detailed endnotes.. "Nicely Executed Dark 'Comedy'" according to AWal. Dark and deceptively funny. What starts of as an unofficial account of Kim Jong Il's life in recently liberated North Korea quickly devolves into a deeper look into the psyche of the man who controlled one of the most secretive nations in the world. At times amusing but mostly sinister, his blatant, unabashed and single minded view of what Korea wants and needs, leaves the reader feeling more uncomfortable than anything else.
