And while I have bought many how to play guitar books (about 2 1/2 foot stack of them) this is always the book that has been the I am 63. I started to learn guitar 12 yrs ago. And while I have bought many how to play guitar books (about 2 1/2 foot stack of them) this is always the book that has been the most useful. I have gifted it to about 10 others that wanted to learn how to play. After I first started using it back in the beginning I introduced it to my college friend who had been playing since I knew him in college. But he'd been playing the same 10 to 20 songs for 30 yrs and not really moving forward. Within two yrs of getting this book and practicing along with me he was light years ahead of where he started out. . Jeffrey D. Palmatier said An essential resource for guitarists.. Bill Edwards' Fretboard Logic is a brilliant explanation of how the notes on the guitar fretboard are laid out. Edwards explains how there are patterns that run up the fretboard in the CAGED sequence. The patterns remain the same no matter what key you're in, although where they are located on the fretboard changes in regards to what key you're in. The explanation of these forms is important to know because it allows you to easily get around the neck. In other words, Edwards' book allows you to see the big picture.I feel bad for Edwards because I noticed that some people have dismissed this book. This should be a large part of how you learn the guitar. Braden E. Bost If you're interested in this book, you've probably taken note of some of the negative reviews. Let me say that most of those reviews want this book to be something that it isn't trying to be, and true appreciation of it comes from fully understanding what it IS. (I've seen elsewhere where some people gave low ratings to a guitar tab book because it wasn't a comic book unreal.)To play guitar well you need to develop skill in three areas.1) Technique (finger strength/memory, pick/fingering style, hammer-ons and pull-offs, changing between chords, etc.)2) Understanding the instrument (where notes a

You're going to change the way the guitar is taught forever. At some point, while working through the second book, I will start putting together chord solos and working on finding a voice and style of my own. My musical goals are now within reach and I have a way of getting there. Everything in your books has a useful purpose and I thank you for it. --Tony Beltram . I decided to learn everything you offer in your books. --John GilmoreI cant express the excitement I feel as I am getting to understand the guitar fretboard in a very real sense. The comments from other customers in your books are NOT an exaggeration, they are right on target. --Rich DiBiaseYou've changed my world and you're going to change other's worlds and the way they look at the instrument

Part Two teaches the tone groups of music - Chords, Scales and Arpeggios - by building them in the context of this pervasive pattern organization, and thereby eliminating the usual guesswork and rote memorization associated with these areas of a guitarist's education. The Special Edition is the first two volumes of the Fretboard Logic guitar series combined, at a special discount. Combined, the two parts form a solid foundation by which a guitarist can intelligently pursue the music styles and technical approaches of their own choosing, and play them on the guitar types which they prefer.. Part One deals with the pattern organization of the fretboard which results from the guitar's unique tuning system. This alone can take years off the learning curve
