I had hoped to learn how to assign stats to game pieces and keep them in balance with each other,. More than a textbook. Like a well written surrogate, there are several ways to use this book. Most importantly, this is a good survey of fast playing strategy games. It is also a lure encouraging one to have thoughts of writing your own. It makes you crave the joy of playing some good board games. Woven into the information is also a first person account of modern gami. "Too general" according to Robby. I am expecting more details and concrete examplesbut still OK as you still can find a lot of gems inside
