David Robinson's exquisite photographs reveal the angelic beauty and mystery of these lifelike sculptures. Many cemeteries in Europe are strewn with shockingly sensual sculptures of women. They are idealized creations-young, gorgeous, elaborately posed, and beautifully sculpted. In her foreword, Joyce Carol Oates explores the many implications of these grief-stricken, extremely provocative female figures.

Also, if there was a little history behind each of the statues or graveyards they reside in, even the information on the stones such as the date or some of the sayings - I think that would have helped the reader 'be there' and feel the dramatic impact these fine sculptures already make. Though I really get into the moment with the statues and the people they represent, for me that would help me connect.Over. Talent & Beauty Together!! Amazing, amazing!!
