DESCRIPTION:

Piper envey As a 66 yr old, licensed pilot who has not flown for 6 or 7 years I had been contemplating a return to the sky. Reading Mr Ford's account of flying, in the very type of plane I had always wanted to own and fly, has motivated me to get serious about it and stop the procrastinating. To night (Christmas eve 2013) I called my old flight instructor for recommendations on where I might find a Cub and an instructor. Maybe, with a little luck, by spring I'll be back in the sky. A Great Account Of A Pilot Flying For The Love Of It Nice reading about the gentle world of recreational flight. The pilot sets an excellent example, learning in a tail wheel aircraft, learning aerobatics and practicing bush pilot techniques. While Mr. Ford started flying at the age of 66 he takes it seriously and has gone about it the right way, developing skills and building competency. I wish that every pilot would take it as seriously as does the author.. OK, but nothing special JParker I did not realize this was basically a collection of a few essays, and not really a full-length book. Probably my fault for not reading the reviews carefully enough. Overall, it's reasonably well written, just not very inspiring. After reading several "rave" reviews, I was expecting a lot more, so I guess I was just left with a feeling of disappointment. It was a decent read, for the 30 minutes it took me to read it

Daniel Ford learned to fly at the age when most men are well into retirement
