"Wonderful re-tellings of important stories" according to Reader. This was our first Jim Weiss tape (CD) and is still, many years later, one of our favorites. As the unhappy critic below notes, these are tellings not readings, but Weiss makes that clear ("I imagine him sitting"). Noah and the Arc is our favorite, but Abraham and the Idols is a good one for these times, and our girls loved both Ruth and Naomi and Esther. Highly, highly recommended. As is just about. "I didn't want my children to listen to this one" according to S. Heri. In converting Old Testament stories to narrative form, Mr. Weiss adds quite a bit of editorializing, which in my opinion alters significantly the action and meaning of the text. We may certainly have our own opinions about why people did things, but to insert them as part of a storyline for children, who tend to take as accurate the first version of a story they hear, is a mistake. Keep it simple & . This is the best. My 7-year-old daughter loves this tape. Each story is about ten minutes - enough for a short car ride. She remembers everything the narrator says. Worth every penny.

His vivid retellings of the classics have received more than one hundred major awards from organizations such as the American Library Association, Parents' Choice Foundation, Oppenheim Toy Portfolio, and Film Advisory Board. So listeners leave the storyteller's circle inspired to learn even more and to develop their own creative gifts. More importantly, the stories form the heart of daily learning and meaningful entertainment in households and schools around the world. To hear Ji
