did not finish this After about did not finish this Diane Hofer After about 4-5 chapters, the dialogue is just too contrived or forced, I just couldn't read any more. After her first visit with a child, Sabre is not happy and her lawyer friend, Bob immediately says: “You’ll win her heart, just as she’ll win yours.” This is not "man-speak", plus it's said after the briefest of details are given, so why would Bob say this? Just one example.. -5 chapters, the dialogue is just too contrived or forced, I just couldn't read any more. I decided to begin at the beginning and so purchased Book 1. I was excited to have found a "new" author and had high hopes for the entire series! What a huge disappointment! Although I really wanted to like this book and hung in there for almost 1/2 of the book, I hated it so much that I could no longer force mysel. & 5 star ratings, and read many of the flowing reviews. I decided to begin at the beginning and so purchased Book 1. I was excited to have found a "new" author and had high hopes for the entire series! What a huge disappointment! "The Advocate" had some virtues (little profanity, no explicit sex, generally clear writing, interesting scenario) and was good enough to keep me reading to the end. However, I was sputtering and struggling with the book's unrealistic aspects throughout. Looking back, I should have quit sooner. I feel misled by the many, many positive reviews-- I've seldom encountered a book this bad with so many glowing reviews, although it does happen.
