I guess I'm more disappointed in my expectations than the actual book/cd Frustrated I guess I'm more disappointed in my expectations than the actual book/cd. The book is just what I wanted, in-depth explanations and interpretations of Shore's gorgeous music. I loved the behind the scenes DVDs included with the Extended Versions of each LOTR movie, particularly when Shore's music is the subject. You could hear someone on the DVD talk about the music, what it was meant to invoke in a particular scene, and simultaneously hear the music in the background. Howard Shore's Academy Award-winning score for The Lord of the Rings has been hailed as some of the greatest film music ever written. Also included are a foreword by Howard Shore, an introduction by Fran Walsh, and sketches by John Howe and Alan Lee.. Sweeping in sc

. Doug Adams is a Chicago-based author and musicologist. This book is the culmination of almost a decade of writing and research, during which time Adams attended recording sessions, examined the original scores, and was given total access to the composer's archives. In 2001, Adams was invited by Howard Shore to observe and document his work on Peter Jackson's motion picture trilogy of The Lord of the Rings

Like the Lord of the Rings story itself, this book is a journey. --Film Music Magazine . --Ain't It Cool NewsAn impressive literary debut that will thrill both Rings and soundtrack fans as meticulous as it is entertaining. a masterwork.
