Even so, he felt like he would always be able to quit and put his life together whenever he needed to. In a voice that is raw and honest, Nic spares no detail in telling us the compelling, heartbreaking, and true story of his relapse and the road to recovery. Nic Sheff was drunk for the first time at age eleven. It's a harrowing portrait -- but not one without hope.. As we watch Nic plunge the mental and physical depths of drug addiction, he paints a picture for us of a person at odds with his past, with his family, with his substances, and with himself. It took a violent relapse one summer in California to convince him otherwise. In the years that followed, he would regularly smoke pot, do cocaine and Ecstasy, and develop addictions to crystal meth and heroin

A good look at the other side Having just read “Beautiful Boy” I wasn’t sure if I could stomach “Tweak”, but as many other reviewers stated, it’s a page turner and I couldn’t put it down. Having been on both sides of the aisle I was reminded of the twisted thinking in an addict's world. You have a bond with drug friends that you can’t imagine giving up any more than the drug itself. But then that’s part of what makes it so hard to kick, just when you’re feeling at your lowest physically and emotionally, you have to give up all your “friends” at the same time. And by t. "I LOVED this book" according to Kim Kundinger. First off, I LOVED this book!!! I agree with a lot of the comments that every teen and parent of one should read this book. It gives real and raw insight into the harmful effects drugs have not only on your body but also your future and social life. It also shows you the difficulty of recovery and how much methamphetamine/heroine can control you. After reading this, I really want to buy Beautiful Boy, which is a novel by David Sheff, Nic Sheff’s father. Beautiful Boy is Nic’s story told from his father’s point of view about how much his son’s addiction affected his life and how it affe. David Greenwood said Interesting perspective. Teenage Anxiety Hypnosis Cd ProgramThis is the son's perspective on the book, Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through his Son's Addiction. While the father's perspective is from the affected family, his is from the addicted son and how he viewed the families attempts for help. Very honest and moving in places, another great example of what to expect if you find yourself in a similar situation. The only drawback is that the father is a better writer and does have a more sympathetic perspective.

From Publishers Weekly Sheff relates his personal struggle with drugs and alcohol in this poignant and often disturbing memoir. Garcia becomes Sheff, offering a gritty and raw performance that demonstrates just how dire the circumstances surrounding Sheff's existence really were.
