Robert M. Hastings said Very Disappointing. Very scarce on explanations. As others have mentioned, it's not enough to say "do something" without going into some detail of what you are doing and why. Also, I think the authors devoted way too many pages on things like cataloging, printing, making photo books, etc. and not nearly enough on how to actually manipulate photos, and what pages they did devote to the topic are short on explanation. And I am very surprised that they did not even go into how to fix portraits, one of the biggest uses of Lightroom. The b. Clairellice said Begineer to Intermediate textbook level for Photographers and others who need to edit photos. As a photographer, I know Photoshop like the back of my hand, but was never formally taught Lightroom. I like John Evans books as he is very detailed, easy to understand, lots of diagrams and photos, well-explained, not a beginners book but not for the seriously advanced either. For those like me who had some knowledge of the product, although you could learn the program from zero knowledge with this book, but if you know the program and are looking for some thing more advanced, This is an intermediate level text b. I like the way the CIB series walks you through the Nick I like the way the CIB series walks you through the lessons step by step. Some of the exercises, like sending a picture out of LR by email can have problems unrelated to the book, but dependent on your mail system. Also, had some problems with the exercise on sharing LR images with my Android phone, again this could be somewhat related to my phone.I think the book is expensive, but in the absence of anything better, the step by step instructions are very good and work well.
