If one simply flips through the book, yes, one can come away thinking his work is simplistic and easy. His lighting style is very simple and I believe this is so he can concentrate on bringing his subject's personality out; which he does very well. Each image includes a description by Platon and this really helps bring the images to life.Also, it's interesting to note that now, many years since the publication of this book, Platon is still (in "Read the text, study the photos and appreciate.
