Dante Alighieri (1265-1321), one of the greatest poets in the Italian language, was born in Florence and later banished from there for his political activities. His philosophical-political poem La Commedia, later called LaDivina Commedia, is considered a masterpiece of world literature.Ralph Cosham (1936-2014), a.k.a. Geoffrey Howard, was a British journalist who

"A modern reader, uninformed, could peruse the whole Commedia, satisfied with the mere literal story and entranced by its unparalleled beauty of language and imagery, but he would miss the inspiration of that higher message which so clearly merits the name of divine." --C. H. Grandgent

Honest Citizen said Understandable. It is understandable, but before each canto, there is a brief summary of the canto, and then there is no warning that the narrator will start reading the canto making it sometimes difficult to discern when the canto starts. The summaries are good, but the producer/editor should have required the narrator to say something similar to "And now Canto 7.".. "Not for commute purposes!" according to Nathan Garcia. This book is written in the ancient tongue. That being said it's kind of hard to concentrate on interpreting the phrases while driving in the car. Overall, I did enjoy this audio book more now than I did when I first read it. This would be a great selection to add to your collection of books!. Great book/story Read well The commentary/explanations don't say when they Great book/storyRead wellThe commentary/explanations don't say when they start or stop but if you are actually paying attention you'll notice when he switches back to reading the next part that he just explained
