An imitation of the imitators, "Panic" out did them all. Featuring many of the same artists that made "Mad" the legend it became, here working in glorious color. This book is not to be missed. Parts are still laugh out funny but most of the humor is wry and understated,. Humor in a varicose vein! This addition to the EC archives is fantastic! The great thing about Panic is that unlike the other EC comics, Panic was a satire of the pop culture of the early 1950s. So not only is the book very well made, it has a heavy sturdy design, beautifully colored pages, magnificent artwork and it also has a very interesting time capsule feel giving you a taste of American history.. "MAD magazine's competitor" according to Roger Farnham. After MAD magazine became a hit every publisher rushed out their own version. Many were, at best, pale and unfunny copies of MAD but PANIC was one of the few that was funny enough to be a front-running competitor. Sadly it only lasted a few issues, this book has the first six.
