It's a tremendous read for those who are thrilled by the true nature of a man's worth!. Invisible Man, a classic Bunbury It is a pleasure to read a book that is so well written. The themes are still very relevant as evidenced by the new film, "The Butler". Both show how essential is was to be silent, to not cause a disturbance, to not attract notice, to not reveal true feelings, to not trust, to say what people expect you to say. Ellison writes with precision using minute details to paint a picture of life during the early and middle twentieth century. The sentences are rich and complicated and must be read completely and savored.. Post World War 2 race relations examined from a black intellectual view point. Joe Collector I just finished this book two days ago and I am still putting together in my head what I read. The story is complex and in the middle of it I realized full of ideas that are communicated via the activities happening to the main character. It examines relationships between blacks almost as much as it exposes black/white relationships. I can imagine the criticism this book received right after it was written. I am sure Mr. Ellison was called a "pinko" or a right out Communist. I have to go back and read the epilogue again.
