Well, "The Last Battle" is an allegory of the battle at the end of the Thousand year reign of Christ, and the recreation of heaven and earth at the end of the book of Revelations. It is C. S. Lewis' view of the falling of the stars out of the heavens and the destruction of the earth by fire that makes phenomenal reading As allegories go, Lew. Dr. Bell said The Best of the Series. I love all of the Narnia books but this is the best. The thing to remember here is this isn't your typical fantasy book where the good army fights the evil army, the bad guy gets defeated in the end and so on, this is a book about discovery, a ship searching for seven missing lords and attempting to map unknown waters in the process.
