If you are buying this book to learn more about the architecture of the day you will not receive much by way of education. For example, page 10 is labeled Designs for Windows and has very clear drawings of 18 different styles of windows. However, there are no explanations or terms for the details. These pictures are from original plates. They were used when people were designing or choosing their new business building or home; in other words, pages of a catalogue. Jenna said good book. Very good to get ideas from for restoration or dollhouse projects. Has lots of plates to chose from. Would recommend for those who wish to get ideas for Victorian restoration projects..
