Extremely Considerate of the Learner J. Eubanks I must admit I have only listened to the first disc (over and over!), because I like to have a firm grasp of what I have learned, before I go on.But I would rate the advantages of this program as this: 1)It is well-constructed and all ties together; 2)Celine, a Frenchwoman, speaks the French words and phrases (so there are no affected French accents, and she does NOT go too fast!); 3)the narrator, Mark Frobose, explains exactly what is happening, and its implications; and 4)the guidebook follows the. "Great if you've already got vocabulary" according to Petra Bee. This is good for me, but not for a raw beginner. I had taken levels 1-5 of Rosetta Stone a year ago focusing mostly on the reading/vocab more than the writing and verbal sentence structures so for me, this CD set has been really good BUT it is drawing on vocabulary with which I am already comfortable. It also moves quickly between concepts and adds new vocab quickly which a new learner would surely struggle with. I assume the creator of the program wants to give you an 'immersion' feel to this exper. Perfect for Someone Who Needs to "Relearn" or Brush Up on French Unlike most French courses, with this approach you can actually say a lot of things (I want to pay, How much is it, Where are you going, etc.) after the first disc.If you have had formal French classes and/or visited France a few times, you want to SPEAK some basic conversational French. Numbers and days of the weeks will get you just so far. And verb conjugations can make even the sturdiest heart fail.I would strongly recommend for someone who has some embedded French in the brain that needs to be
