Pam Emanuel said Writing style dissonance doesn't work. The story itself wasn't bad, but I really had a hard time getting into the read. I think it was the writing style dissonance that kept taking me out of the narrative.Several of these authors are personal favorites, which means I recognize their writing style. Since I kept being 'jolted' by those personal styles pop. Not for me Some parts were engaging. Mostly this book was just a battle. Like an action adventure movie with real character involvement. I did not like it. The story line was about child sacrifice. What can I say it was a dark story with no humor or light in it. Cannot recommend.. Kathryn said I really wanted more out of this story. So many good authors in one place doesn't make for a perfect read. I liked the story, I liked the characters (there are so many of them), and I liked that I the book moved along.
