With this in mind, the font has purposely been enlarged. While many would say that getting on in years is only a state of mind, the fact is that some of the body parts (including the eyes) don't function quite the same as they did in younger years. The primary difference between this method and many others is that this book is written for seniors wanting to learn to play the mandolin. Care has been taken to select repertoire familiar and appealing to a more mature audience and attention has been given to the pacing of the material. Accompanying online audio recording includes all songs taught in the book.

Very disappointing N. N. Because I'm in the senior age range and was just starting with the mandolin, I thought that this book might be useful. It definitely isn't. First, the finger to fret designations on page 6 are contrary to every other mandolin study book I've seen, and the illustration of the mandolin neck on the following page is just lines, not a real illustration. It doesn't resemble the components of the neck and identifies the nut but doesn't describe where it is. And tuning using a piano assumes that the reader HAS a piano. For the eight strings on the mandolin, tuning th. "I was disappointed with this book" according to Bloody Nib. I was disappointed with this book. It was too short for the price and was so basic as to be a Mandolin for Kids rather than Mandolin for Geezers. It's chord heavy in it's presentation, which is strange since seniors usually lose the strength in their fingers and a mandolin demands more strength to make chords than a guitar.
