"Dummies" doesn't mean there's an alternate approach to learning! I'm happy with this book so far, but with a slow learning process and 600 pages (!) I can really only evaluate the earlier stages of learning/relearning. Even the table of contents is 15 pages long! It doesn't simply start with, say, an introduction to the keyboard, but rather with the pros and cons of different styles of pianos, including a range of electronic keyboards,posture, etc.At Chapter 5, "Getting Comfy at the Keyboard," you're finally getting into even the be. Dorothy Carter said Not just for beginners. This looks as if it might be just for beginners, but it has sections that even more advanced pianists and keyboard players can use. I am a pianist at the high intermediate level, and I found much here that is useful: finger exercise (we all need them), basic theory (which I never got in my lessons) and a glossary of terms.
