"An excellent book for inspiration" according to Daniela A.. I don't live in USA; I do in Southamerica, I am also a searcher from bargain sales, here we don't have garage sales. As we don't have the great quantities of material that is sold for mosaicists in USA, we have to get ideas, and there came this book, filled in with ideas, and retelling how the artist arrived to them. Perhaps some may find the ideas a bit basic, as it was mentioned, but for me they were revealing what I had in my head for a long time! To be able to use anything, just anything in combination with my tiles. And we can only get regular tiles and colored glass, which is also very expensive, but the photograph chair, for exampl. Okay A bit of disappointment with this as I did not care for most of the projects designs but there were a few gems. I would not pay full price for this but might keep it in my library. The best book on this subject for me that has kept me up all night and inspired me in my own art is "Mosaic Renaissance" by Laurel Skye. The latter is extraordinary, unusual, refreshing and oh so inspiring and more to my taste in colors and design. I found this book did not have anything profound or much new in the way of repurposing and mosaic work. Perhaps a very beginner could use this more.. upton said wow. the book is a true feast for the eyes. the photography and the art work it so clearly illustrates are sharp and interesting. the text and explanations of the how and why behind each piece greatly contributed to my enjoyment and as an amateur mosaic artist were important to me. the works range from the challenging and abstract to mosaic art as the next step in producing a real picture. it is a book that takes mosaic art to a level beyond little squares and odd shaped portraits but at the same time is down to earth and a true learning experience.
